SOBRIETY ACTION PLANS
At Odegard Counseling, we recognize that sobriety is not one-size-fits-all.
Our mission is to help people who are considering making changes to their alcohol or other substance use through individualized substance abuse planning.
Substance abuse planning includes identifying and setting goals, developing a relapse prevention plan, identifying the cycle of use, and identifying parts of self that are lost in addiction.
bipolar disorder
Bipolar disorder is a common underlying cause of substance abuse that many people unknowingly live with for years. Some signs of bipolar disorder include mood swings that seem to be more extreme than other people’s, difficulty with sleep or keeping a consistent schedule, using drugs or alcohol to cope with mood changes, and intermittent periods of self-destructive habits.
Treatment of bipolar disorder is dependent on a proper diagnosis, which can be challenging. Fortunately, Elisha is well-versed in both the assessment and treatment of bipolar disorder. Proper screening and diagnosis of bipolar disorder are an important step to increase stability, consistency, sobriety, and life satisfaction.
NEUROSCIENCE-INFORMED CARE
Our brains are complex organs that are shaped by our life experiences. We become wired to think, react, and behave in certain ways. Every brain is unique and understanding yours is key to knowing why you do what you do and how to change it. We will talk about the science of YOUR brain and how we can re-wire it so that you get the outcomes you desire.
NERVOUS SYSTEM REGULATION
Nervous system regulation bridges neuroscience and psychology. By focusing on the body’s physical responses to our environment, we can map the body's stress patterns to identify underlying causes of addictive or self-destructive behaviors. This pattern recognition improves the mind-body connection to help clients tap into their natural intuition and look to the body for information and help.
